Sparx is run by husband and wife team Gill and Kevin Radley. Sparx first opened in Bangor in 2005, but it had it's beginnings in a market stall they ran in Camden from 1988 to 2014.The stall was known as Longford Rockers and was open at weekends on the corner of Buck St. and Camden High St. In the aftermath of the tube and bus bombings of 2005 tourists stopped visiting London, and it was very quiet on Camden Market. "A friend of ours suggested that we try opening a shop in Bangor, and offered us some space in a school and workwear outfitter called Krypton Klothing. We were called N.W.1 when we first opened, and sold items we had bought from other Camden stallholders. The shop became popular straightaway,and although we have since moved into our own premises at 208A High St, we are in Bangor 'til this day. We have many tales to tell, but the way we came to do Fancy Dress is quite funny. Our shop was Alternative and Gothic orientated when we began,and we were astounded by how busy we became at Halloween and New Year. It took us a while to realise that the corsets, stockings, and net gloves we were selling at those times were being bought for Fancy Dress, and that's what led us into including Fancy Dress in what we do."
